For the 2022-2023 season, girls track has definitely been on a worthwhile journey to 4th place overall at the IHSA State Finals among the top and toughest competition in the state of Illinois.

The amazing end to their journey began back at State prelims, where the girls track and field team were able to secure their spot into the Finals. The girls traveled down to Charleston, Illinois to compete in the State Finals. They ran in a variety of the events, scoring the best team finish in Girls Neuqua Track and Field history! The results for the girls astonishing wins in each event were as follows:

                       – 200 Meters : 1st place

                       – 4 x 200 relay : 1st place

                       – 100 Meters : 2nd place

                       – 4 x 100 relay : 4th place

                       – Pole Vault : 5th place

                       – 3200 Meters : 7th place

As the best team score in Neuqua history, the girls also achieved new records. As the State Champions for the 4 x 200 relay race, teammates Tolu Aremu, Ava Belle, Chioma Anyaegbunam, and Zawadi Brown took home the 1st place prize and set an all-new school record. Apart from the relay, Zawadi Brown also set another school record as the Girls State Champion in the 200-meter dash. It was not long ago when Sophomore, Kamila Szczepanik, set a new Neuqua Valley Girls indoor pole vaulting record at a marveling 3.50m (11 feet).

Although this great season has come to an end, the girls have received a great deal of wins during both indoor and outdoor track and field competition season, all of which prepared them for extraordinary results at finals. These major wins were well deserved as the girls have been practicing hard all season, pushing themselves to their best. These are great accomplishments that will go down in Neuqua History and an exceptional memory to look back on in their bright futures.

Congratulations to our IHSA State Final Champions!
