Everyone knows and loves the infamous Barbie franchise. From the rows of plastic dolls in every toy aisle at every store, to the many animated films created since 2001, there’s no doubt that Barbie has become a global sensation since the late 1950s when the doll was first introduced. The need for a live-action Barbie movie has been discussed for many years, and finally, Warner Brothers have come out with the first sneak peek of what will be a comedic and slightly mature version of the beloved Barbie and her friends.

The movie is set to come out on July 21, 2023, and millions of people are ecstatic about the loaded cast, amazing production, and the surprising PG-13 rating after watching the new trailer. Some of the esteemed cast members include Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Dua Lipa, Anne Hathaway, Simu Liu, and the movie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

“Barbie” seems to be very bright, funny and uplifting. This film is filled with well recognized and adored actors such as Will Ferell and Michael Cera, who both have very successful acting careers in comedy. Together they will bring an electric energy to the screens. Margot Robbie as Barbie is a perfect match. She’s talented, youthful, and has a perfect look for the part. There’s no doubt Robbie will prosper in this role. Although most people are content with the casting, lots of controversies has sparked since seeing Ryan Gosling cast as Ken, most backlash being that he is “too old” to portray the part. With Gosling’s fake tan and bleached hair, there’s no doubt he fails to look the age. But does that really matter? As long as Gosling can comedically and effectively portray the role, there should be no problem having an older-looking Ken.

The design of the movie set seems to match up perfectly with the plastic utopia Barbie is known to live in, which gives the movie a cartoonish vibe despite them branching away from the usual animated film we’re used to seeing. The use of pink is very prominent in the film which familiarizes the audience with their predetermined conception of who Barbie is and what she wears. Pink is a necessity for the Barbie movie, and we think the trailer displayed a perfect amount of it.

Overall, we think that the Barbie movie is going to be a phenomenal success, as it includes a fair amount of material from Barbie’s past projects and the casting seems to be perfect. The trailer gives the impression that the movie is going to be a success in many ways, and we are so excited to go and see it!
