The Neuqua Valley Girls’ Soccer team waves to the Neuqua fans after their upset victory over Naperville Central.

This past Friday, May 20th, Neuqua Valley Girl’s Soccer had their regional championship matchup against Naperville Central. The 2nd-to-last seeded Wildcats pulled off the upset against the top ranked RedHawks in a 3-1 slugfest of a match. Led by 2 goals from freshman Selma Larbi, and a clinching shot by sophomore Brie Clasen, the Wildcats emerged victorious. After an earlier season loss to Central, the team wanted this win more than ever, “…as a team, we wanted to win more than Central did and we put everything we had into making that happen” said junior Reagan Rushing.

The team was ecstatic after coming through in their biggest game of the year. After Clasen scored the Wildcat’s 3rd goal, the game was clinched. “…they could have easily had another [goal] and tied it, but when I scored I knew that was it…” she chimed about her thoughts after the goal.

The Wildcats look to continue their run on Tuesday, May 24th, against the conference champions, Metea Valley, hoping to pull off another amazing upset.
