Echo Eats: WDSRA Food Truck Festival Recap

Summer Moore, Assistant Editor in Chief/Business Manager

Downtown Naperville hosted a Western DuPage Special Recreation Association food truck festival, on September 29th, 2019. The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association is a group that provides children with special needs community-based social and recreational programs.

This event raised money for the WDSRA to help provide events for children with special needs in the association. It cost two dollars at admissions and offered a variety of food trucks, a DJ, face painting, and bouncy houses for the community to enjoy. This created a very upbeat and environment, in which I greatly. There were many smiles that could be seen and although the event wasn’t very crowded, it had lines to try all the great food.

Some of the food offered was Cupcakes for Courage, which donated money to research for childhood cancer. Gnarly Knots, a pretzel truck, Grumpy Gaucho, Happy Lobster, My Funnel Truck, Pierogi Squad, Roaming Hog, Sweets on Wheels, Bakery Truck, and Toasty Cheese.

I ate at My Funnel Truck, where I had Superman Ice Cream, which I enjoyed greatly. My family also enjoyed Superman Ice Cream. My step-dad, Ian Boswell, had the sampler plate at Pierogi Squad. Boswell believed the pierogis where good, but he hoped for better.

Although it was a chilly day, people still came out to enjoy this event for a great cause. This was an event for a great cause, in which I am glad to see it got so much support.
