Every year, a select group of Neuqua Valley students are gifted the Neuqua Honors Award for their outstanding performance in 1 of 6 categories: Contributions to Neuqua Valley, Leadership, Equity, Service and Civics, Student Growth, and the Leslie Baumann Spirit Award.
This incredible honor celebrates the hard work of each recipient and allows Neuqua’s staff to recognize their students.
About halfway through the school year, Neuqua Valley’s faculty members began to observe and nominate those who stood out in a specific category. Whether it was in the classroom, a club, or a sport, students were chosen for demonstrating qualities worthy of recognition.
On April 30th, the recipients attended the Neuqua Honors ceremony where they received their award and a note from the staff member who selected them. Each note contained a unique message and explained why the student was nominated.
During the event, our principal Dr. Fuhrer began by sharing his appreciation for all of the amazing students. His powerful speech highlighted the reasons behind the award and pointed out the students’ commendable accomplishments.
The audience also heard from Mrs. Christina Chrencik, one of the counselors for the class of 2026 who shared a story about persevering through adversity.
Along with celebrating the Neuqua Honors recipients, the Class of 2024 Distinguished Alumni were also awarded at the event. This year’s honorees were Justin Brosseau, Dr. Mike Neville, and Allison Totura. These former Neuqua Valley students were recognized for their success outside of high school.
Dr. Mike Neville was present at the ceremony and spoke about his experience at Neuqua Valley. Neville credited his family and former teachers for his accomplishments and mentioned that they helped shape him into who he is today.
A huge congratulations to the 2024 Neuqua Honors recipients and this year’s Distinguished Alumni for all of their hard work.
