As snow piles up on the streets of the Naperville area, blanketing roads, driveways, and sidewalks, and the temperature dips below freezing, the thought of going outside becomes less and less appealing. While the first days of snowfall are filled with nothing but endless joy from making snowmen, the thrill begins to dwindle. The snow starts to get boring and the chill starts to get too much. But don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a snowy day from the comfort, and warmth, of your house.
Put together a puzzle:
Putting together a puzzle is a fun way to pass the time. Whether you connect two pieces or two sections, you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. Puzzles also take a while to complete so you will have something to do for hours. You can put on a show or listen to music while completing the puzzle, and you can finish the puzzle by yourself or with a friend!
Read a book:
With a busy schedule, reading a book feels almost impossible to do. But the ambiance created by the snowy outdoors is a great motivator to light some candles, drink hot chocolate, and read. Whether you start a new novel or reread a childhood classic, the snowy background is a perfect addition to the reading experience.
Bake chocolate-chip cookies:
Escape the cold by baking warm chocolate chip cookies. It’s a comforting activity with a delicious outcome. Although eating the raw cookie dough is arguably the most enjoyable part of the experience, the cookies you end up with are still pretty great.
Paint:
Painting is a relaxing way to show off your creativity. You are in complete control of what you paint and how long you paint. Seeing the end product of your painting is also incredibly rewarding and it’s always fun to see a physical product of your artistic ability.
Binge-watch a movie:
Microwave some popcorn, grab your blankets, and curl into your couch! Binging a movie series is a stress-free activity that requires little effort, aside from choosing what to watch. Horror fanatics might find themself more drawn to “The Fear Street Trilogy”, romance enjoyers to the “To All the Boys” trilogy, and dystopian enthusiasts to “The Hunger Games” (especially with the recent addition of “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”). No matter which genre you choose, you are sure to have fun.
