With the weather getting chillier, many fall festivities in the area are opening their doors. The fall season is all about pumpkins, apple patches, hay rides, and much more. Here is a summary of some of the activities happening in the area throughout this month.
All Hallows Eve Festival at Naper Settlement – Celebrate Halloween with monsters, magic, and mythical creatures coming to Naper Settlement in a Halloween themed festival. Join Naper Settlement for Halloween activities like art, entertainment, and games. Each activity has a ¨scare factor” based on the intensity of the activity, but none of the activities are too terrifying since the target audience is children 16 and under. The festival will take place on Oct 21, 2023 from 6:30 to 10 pm.
Pumpkin patches – The Chicago area is the perfect place to visit a pumpkin patch based on its typical fall weather and its tradition of bringing home pumpkins. The Cosley Zoo has a Pumpkin Fest throughout the month of October, with over thousands of pumpkins to choose from and rides for kids, if you have a little sibling you would like to take with you. An untraditional pumpkin patch is The Glass Pumpkin Patch at the Morton Arboretum, where glassblowers take pieces of glass and create glass pumpkins out of them. It is a beautiful form of art to enjoy watching, and to celebrate Halloween in a new way.
Naperville Trolley Halloween Light Tour – On Friday October 20, the Naperville Trolley will be taking Naperville citizens on a ride to see the most decorated homes in the city. There are two rides available; one for the Northern part of Naperville and one for the Southern part of Naperville. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costume (although no glitter is allowed). There may be occasional screams on the ride to account for some extra Halloween fun!
Haunted Houses – The best way to get a good scare during Halloween season is to visit a haunted house! The Naperville area has tons of haunted houses that are affordable and fun!
Massacre Haunted House – Massacre Haunted House in Montgomery, IL is considered to be the scariest haunted house in Illinois. People who visited said the line was long, but there was some good entertainment available while waiting.
Basement of the Dead – This is the most popular haunted house in this area, located in Aurora. The admission price is relatively lower, only $19.99, and the attractions are extremely thrilling.
HellsGate – This one is a bit further, but worth the drive! Located in Lockport, IL, this haunted house is known for its incredible actors who give the participants a splendid time!
Fall drinks – Everybody knows that fall is the time for Starbucks and Dunkin (and many other coffee shops) to open up their fall drink menu! Some popular Starbucks drinks include the Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, and the Iced Apple Crisp Oat Milk Shaken Espresso. Some popular Dunkin fall drinks include the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, the Nutty Pumpkin Coffee, and an order of regular iced coffee with the famous Pumpkin Swirl, which is Dunkin’s most popular swirl flavor.
These are only a few of the many activities that the Naperville area has to offer. For more information, check out visitnaperville.com, discoverdupage.com or visitwill.com. Hope everybody has an amazing Halloween and fall season!
