“Evil Eye” Review
#2. “Evil Eye” ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Evil Eye” is one of four horror movies released by Blumhouse Studios. It was directed by Elan and Rajeev Dassani and written by Madhuri Shekar. Movie Poster of “Evil Eye” from Amazon.com.
When Usha Kharti (Sarita Choudhury) believes that her ex-boyfriend has been reincarnated and is now dating her daughter Pallavi (Sunita Mani), she becomes frantic and attempts to end her daughter’s relationship with Sandeep (Omar Maskati). With the complex take on reincarnation within the Buddhist community as well as the significance of the “Evil Eye”, this movie hit a home run with its twisted take on faith. Although this movie did not have any significant horror within it, the storyline itself was scary as it focused on what would happen if an abusive ex-boyfriend were to be reincarnated. The acting in the movie was somewhat cheesy, with the exception of Sarita Choudhury’s raw emotion, yet really captivated me throughout the story.Overall, this movie was my second favorite due to the creative interpretation of reincarnation, the storyline following Usha and Pallavi’s relationship and the examination of being a victim of abuse.
