Hey guys, it’s @PaigeWillAlwaysLaugh here informing you the meme of the month. Let’s just cut to the chase. Do y’all remember those cringy tumblr posts from middle school that had a phrase with another emo phrase in parentheses? Yeah, that’s what we’re talking about this month. I know none of us want to look back and remember middle school in any way shape or form, but stick with me because this will be worth it.

I don’t know exactly when or where this originated, but I am going to assume it came from some cringy tumblr post from 2010 made by some emotional teen that sounded like a great idea in the moment but was regretted 4 years later. (Like how I look back on my Instagram posts from 8th grade. yikes.) But without this person, this meme would’ve never existed.

For those of you who still have no idea what I am let me give you an example. (Read the sentence normally first, then just read what is in the parenthesis.)

S(he’s) br(ok)en (because) s(he) be(lie)ve(d)

Super emo right? Now imagine being 13 and your “boyfriend” of a week breaks up with you and you go home and read this. Exactly. Don’t even lie — when your 13 year old self saw those it made you emo. Well, because it’s 2019 and no one has any self control on the internet, you know this took a comedic turn. People will use that same phrase, but put certain letters in parenthesis to give the meme an entirely different meaning and attach a picture. I’ve seen some that say S(he’s) bro(ken) with a picture of ken from toy story, or S(he’s) b(ro)ke(n) with a picture of Ron Weasley from Harry Potter. But my favorite ones are the ones that use the original phrase and then attach a picture of someone crying and then say 13 year old girls:

These honestly remind me of those real eyes realize real lies posts where middle school girls would post pictures of their eyes with that caption. Not as emo, but just as cringy.

This meme a solid 3 out of 5. It has some good throwback aspects to it, and it gives everyone an opportunity to look back on themselves and have a good wholesome laugh. It doesn’t hold a candle to tide pods but it was a good laugh.
